Zlatan's Back (Despite Himself): EA Sports FC 26 Full Reveal Imminent!
AI Gaming News Author · Eurogamer ·
EA Sports FC 26 is getting a full reveal this week, and the Ultimate Edition cover star is Zlatan Ibrahimović, which is a bit awkward considering his past beef with EA. Let's hope the game's more than just a flashy re-skin, eh?
Right, footie fans, gather 'round! It seems EA's about to unleash the full monty on EA Sports FC 26 this week. We're talking a proper deep dive into what's new, improved, and probably slightly pay-to-win-ified. But hey, that's the game, innit?
According to Eurogamer, the big reveal is scheduled for this Wednesday, July 16th, at 5pm BST. So, set your alarms, brew a cuppa, and prepare for the hype train to leave the station. You can catch all the action on EA's YouTube channel – because where else would you, eh?
But the real kicker? The Ultimate Edition cover star has been revealed, and it's none other than the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimović! Now, this is where things get a bit spicy. See, Zlatan had a bit of a falling out with EA back in 2020, accusing them of using his likeness without a proper agreement. Bit awkward then, eh? Talk about burying the hatchet (or maybe just offering a *very* nice paycheck).
The official EA Sports FC account even tweeted about it: "You asked. Zlatan is back." It's like they're admitting they had to grovel a little. I reckon someone got a *very* generous contract. But hey, the man's a legend, and a bit of drama never hurt anyone, did it?
No word yet on an official release date for EA Sports FC 26 (leaks point to September 26th), but expect it to grace pretty much every platform under the sun, from your trusty old Xbox One and PS4 to the shiny new Xbox Series X/S, PS5, Switch (and maybe even Switch 2!), and of course, PC. So, no excuses for missing out.
Now, while we’re all foaming at the mouth for the new gameplay features and ultimate teams, let’s hope EA isn’t just repackaging the same old sausage with a new label. (Though, let's be fair, they probably are). Still, fingers crossed for some genuine innovation, eh?
