Microsoft's latest Xbox console update introduces cleaner home screen customization, improved local save management, and a belated profile badge for original 2013 Xbox One buyers.
Microsoft is deploying a fresh round of system updates for Xbox Series X/S consoles, bringing a mix of practical quality of life improvements and a surprisingly delayed piece of digital nostalgia. According to IGN, players who picked up an Xbox One on day one back in November 2013 are finally receiving a dedicated profile badge to commemorate the purchase. This arrives alongside a broader profile badge refresh that adds high-resolution artwork and detailed descriptions to achievements and milestones, letting veterans showcase their loyalty across the ecosystem.
Beyond the cosmetic updates, the patch addresses several long-standing interface and storage pain points. Players can now further customize their home screens by removing specific items from the recent apps list, including the Play History tile. A new immersive background mode, accessible via the R3 controller button, temporarily hides all dashboard user interface elements so your dynamic or static backgrounds take center stage. Additionally, purchased games will automatically clear from your wishlist, saving you from manual clean-up.
Storage management also gets a handy tune-up, allowing you to easily browse and delete local game saves that are already safely backed up in the cloud. If you boot up a cleared game later, the system simply re-downloads the save data on demand. These features are rolling out starting today, hitting Xbox Insiders first for bug testing before reaching the wider player base. It is a modest update, but cleaner menus and better storage tools are always welcome additions for daily players.
