Xbox Game Pass Essential Welcomes Rematch as Its 21st Addition of 2026

Xbox Game Pass Essential has added Sloclap's multiplayer soccer game Rematch to its library, alongside a major crossover update featuring the anime Blue Lock.

Microsoft is continuing to flesh out its entry level subscription library. As reported by Game Rant, Xbox Game Pass Essential has just added the multiplayer sports title Rematch to its catalog. This marks the tier's first new arrival since July and the twenty first game to hit the budget friendly library overall in 2026. Originally launched in June 2025 by Sifu developer Sloclap and publisher Kepler Interactive, the arcade style soccer game drops traditional fouls and offsides in favor of fast paced, third person athlete control. It is fully available for PC and console players, complete with handheld optimization on the Xbox Store.

The timing aligns with a major content drop for the game. Rematch arrived on the Essential tier alongside a fresh update featuring a crossover with the hit soccer manga Blue Lock. Running as part of Season 5, the update brings a limited time three versus three mode called Aura Striker, where players build a meter to boost their speed, shot power, and stamina while automated goalkeeping keeps the action focused entirely on the field. Players can also unlock a free event pass, sports themed cosmetics, and premium character bundles inspired by popular series favorites.

Subscribers jumping into the action will also find several core mechanical adjustments introduced by Sloclap. The patch adds exhausted dribbling states, expanded long range goalkeeper dives, and cleaner feedback for canceled volley attempts. With Microsoft historically refreshing the Essential tier multiple times per year, players can safely expect more catalog additions before the year wraps up.
