Xbox Game Pass Clears Out The Witcher 3 and Four Other Titles

Xbox Game Pass is losing five games, headlined by The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, marking the second consecutive month of net catalog losses for Microsoft's subscription service.

Xbox Game Pass is waving goodbye to five games today, closing out August with a notable catalog trim. Leading the departure board is CD Projekt Red's monumental open-world RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which exits the service after a relatively brief six and a half month stint. This time around, subscribers were treated to the complete package featuring both major expansions, making its exit sting a bit more than its base game departure years ago. The timing lines up neatly with recent Gamescom announcements regarding an upcoming remaster scheduled for late September.

Alongside Geralt of Rivia, four other titles are cycling out of the library. Neon Abyss is moving on after a lengthy six-year run, while indie favorites like Another Crab's Treasure, I Am Your Beast, and One Lonely Outpost are also checking out. For a service built on constant rotation, losing high-profile anchor titles always shifts player habits, especially when community favorites leave just as players are deep into massive campaigns.

This departure caps off a second consecutive month where Xbox Game Pass has experienced a net catalog loss. Microsoft added just seven new titles to the service through August, leaving the overall library tally down as autumn approaches. Even so, the rotation never truly stops, with resource management title Shelldiver stepping in immediately to kick off the September lineup. As subscription libraries continue to evolve across platforms, managing these inevitable departures remains a delicate balance for players treating the service as their primary entertainment hub.
