Xbox Free Play Days is offering four games to play for free through August 30 alongside an open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
The latest round of Xbox Free Play Days is live, giving players a chance to check out four distinct titles completely free of charge through August 30. As usual, the lineup offers a mix of experiences, though access depends on your current subscription status. Remedy Entertainment's acclaimed supernatural action thriller Control: Ultimate Edition and SNK's competitive 2D fighter Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves are open to all Xbox users without any subscription barrier. Meanwhile, subscribers can dive into the online ninja brawler Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and Studio Wildcard's massive Unreal Engine 5 survival sandbox ARK: Survival Ascended.
Alongside the weekend rotation, Microsoft is spotlighting a massive bonus freebie with the open beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Running from August 28 through September 1, the test build lets players sample new multiplayer modes, a dedicated campaign mission, expanded movement mechanics, Ground War, and a fresh Warzone Resurgence map. It gives the community a robust preview of upcoming content with full operator customization and a level cap of 30.
While these promotional windows are brief, they serve as a great low-pressure way to test out games before committing storage space or cash. Most of the featured titles also come with temporary platform discounts for anyone who wants to keep playing after the free period wraps up. You can queue up downloads directly from the subscriptions tab on your console dashboard or via the Xbox app.
For players balancing multiple platforms or looking to squeeze in some weekend session time with friends, these curated drop weekends remain one of the best perks in the ecosystem. Whether you are tackling massive survival worlds or jumping into competitive lobbies, it is an easy win for your gaming backlog.
