Microsoft has announced two limited edition Gears of War: E-Day controllers, including a pre-orderable standard model and an upcoming Design Lab variant. Both controllers will be showcased at Gamescom ahead of the game's October launch.
Microsoft is rolling out two striking limited edition controllers to celebrate the upcoming launch of Gears of War: E-Day, giving players fresh hardware options ahead of the October release. Pre-orders for the standard limited edition model are live now, priced at $89.99, following leaks that surfaced earlier this month.
The controller features 3D-molded red glowing cracks surrounding the iconic Crimson Omen logo, paired with blacked-out ABXY buttons and a metallic silver COG tag on the battery door. Alongside the standard limited edition, Microsoft revealed a customizable Xbox Design Lab variant created in collaboration with heavy metal artist Luke Preece. This version sports a grey and ashy color scheme showcasing a large central skull backed by crossed Lancers, with a red Xbox button embedded in the forehead.
While pre-orders for the Design Lab option open on September 30, both controllers will be on display at Gamescom with playable campaign demos. The hardware drop continues a strong run of themed console accessories hitting the market this fall, offering players plenty of ways to deck out their setups before diving into the franchise prequel.
