Microsoft has announced the January 2026 Xbox Developer Direct, featuring deep dives into Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation.
Microsoft is kicking off the year with a major broadcast, announcing that the next Xbox Developer Direct will stream live on Thursday, January 22. According to the original report by Polygon, the showcase delivers extended looks at three major titles including the long awaited reboot of Fable, Playground Games' upcoming Forza Horizon 6, and Beast of Reincarnation, the new action RPG from Pokémon developer Game Freak. For players tracking platform schedules and upcoming releases, the event offers a clear look at what major publishers have lined up for the months ahead.
The broadcast is scheduled for 10 a.m. PST, 1 p.m. EST, and 6 p.m. GMT, bringing deep dives straight from the developers building these worlds. Fable finally steps back into the spotlight with its first extended gameplay reveal since its initial announcement over five years ago, promising the classic blend of British humor, moral choices, and distinct atmosphere rebuilt for modern hardware. Meanwhile, Forza Horizon 6 takes the franchise to a heavily requested setting in Japan, with developers showing off how the open world comes to life ahead of its anticipated May launch on PC and Xbox Series X, alongside a later release on PlayStation 5.
Rounding out the main lineup is Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation, which introduces players to protagonist Emma and her canine companion Koo as they navigate a post apocalyptic Japanese setting using plant manipulation mechanics. Beyond the confirmed lineup, these Developer Direct streams have a strong track record of dropping surprise announcements or shadow drops near the end of the broadcast. Whether we finally see movement on rumored Fallout remasters or an unexpected release from an internal Xbox team, the community will be watching closely to see what else Microsoft has up its sleeve.
