WWE 2K25 Swaps Celebrity Guest for... Chad Gable in Disguise? Bloody Hell!

WWE 2K25 replaced their promised celebrity DLC character with a masked wrestler who looks suspiciously like Chad Gable, leaving fans scratching their heads and wondering where all the real stars went. It's either a stroke of genius or a slightly baffling decision, depending on how much you like guys in masks.

Right, so WWE 2K25 promised us a celebrity guest in their New Wave Pack DLC, didn't they? We were all picturing some A-lister jumping off the top rope, maybe even doing the People's Elbow (if The Rock was feeling generous). But fair dinkum, what we actually got is... slightly less exciting. According to Game Rant, that celeb guest has been mysteriously replaced.

The New Wave Pack, for those not keeping score at home, already included some up-and-coming wrestlers like Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, Stephanie Vaquer, and Giulia. The idea was to sweeten the deal with a celeb, much like the Dunk and Destruction Pack's NBA stars or the Fearless Pack's KSI (rocking that questionable Prime bottle costume). But the celebrity spot remained empty, like a wrestling ring after the main event.

Now, Visual Concepts is pulling a fast one, replacing the promised celebrity with El Grande Americano. Who? Exactly. He's a masked luchador currently doing the rounds on Monday Night Raw. He hails from… “the Gulf of America.” (Insert confused wizard face here). He’s basically Chad Gable dressed as Captain America’s luchador cousin. Seriously, the resemblance is uncanny, even though Gable was supposedly injured recently.

So, instead of, say, Travis Scott (who some fans speculated was the original choice due to his involvement in a WrestleMania feud), we get… a suspiciously Gable-esque character. Look, El Grande Americano is making his video game debut, which is nice for him. But couldn't they have just given us an alternate costume for Gable or Ludwig Kaiser? That's what a lot of fans are saying, and honestly, they've got a point. It smells a bit like padding out the roster, doesn't it?

The announcement, as you might imagine, has been met with a mix of reactions. Some folks are intrigued by the El Grande Americano gimmick. Others are just plain confused (I'm with you, mates!). And some reckon it's a missed opportunity to add some genuine star power to the game.

But hey, maybe El Grande Americano will surprise us all. Maybe he'll have a secret finisher involving an exploding taco or something. You never know in wrestling! Either way, if you already bought the New Wave Pack (either solo or as part of the Season Pass), you'll get El Grande Americano added to your lineup in September. So, that's something, I suppose.
