Koei Tecmo has just given action RPG fans a major surprise by announcing that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will officially launch on March 4, 2027. Alongside the release date, the developer dropped an alpha demo on Steam that lets players dive straight back into its mythological take on the Three Kingdoms era. According to a PlayStation Blog post, the slice of the game lets players tackle part of the Changban stage, blending offensive and defensive martial arts while squaring off against legendary historical figures and demonic beasts.
The timing gives the community plenty of hands-on time to test the mechanics, as the demo is live on Steam from September 16 through September 30. Beyond the combat and battlefield traversal, the preview includes character creation and co-op multiplayer. Players who manage to take down the boss Wuzhiqi during the demo period will unlock the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet, a nice bonus that carries over when the full game drops next year.
While the demo gives an early taste of what to expect, players will want to clear some room on their drives before March. System requirements shared by the developers indicate that the full game will demand a hefty 95 GB of storage space. As reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, this sequel builds directly on the foundation of the first soulslike entry, bringing more massive open battlefields and mythological threats to platforms everywhere.
