Wizards of the Coast has announced nine new Commander decks for the upcoming Secrets of Strixhaven and Marvel Super Heroes Magic: The Gathering sets, bringing the total preconstructed deck count for early 2026 to twelve.
Magic: The Gathering is keeping up an intense release schedule for 2026. Coming straight out of the Nuremberg Toy Fair, Wizards of the Coast revealed nine new preconstructed Commander decks arriving over the next few months, pushing the total count for the first half of the year to twelve. As detailed in an exclusive preview by GameSpot, these upcoming boxes cover both the university magic of April's Secrets of Strixhaven and the massive crossover lineup hitting in June with Marvel Super Heroes.
The Marvel side of the drop confirms recent leaks, showcasing four distinct decks led by iconic comic book names. The Fantastic Four, a villain-focused deck, Captain America, and a Wakanda Forever build are all stepping up to the tabletop. Wizards is leaning heavily into familiar color identities and mechanical archetypes here, pairing iconic heroes with equipment and counter synergies while giving villain builds classic control flavors. Meanwhile, the Strixhaven release is taking a different route by dedicating five separate two-color precons to the academic institution's rival colleges.
Beyond the precons, both major sets are rolling out standard booster arrays alongside specialized product bundles. Strixhaven introduces a new Codex Bundle featuring exclusive alternate-art foil reprints of Sol Ring and various Talismans, while the Marvel lineup gets a gift bundle packed with exclusive promo cards. For players managing tabletop collections alongside digital inventories elsewhere, the sheer volume of physical product rolling out means it is a good time to be strategic about which decks to grab.
