Comic-Con is about to get Twisted! The 'Twisted Metal' show is bringing a panel, a screening, and even a bumper car demolition derby to San Diego, offering fans a taste of Calypso's chaotic tournament.
Alright, buckle up buttercups, because it looks like Peacock's 'Twisted Metal' series is about to turn San Diego Comic-Con into its own little demolition derby. Courtesy of those fine folks over at IGN South Africa, we’ve got the lowdown on how you can experience the sweet, sweet chaos of Calypso's twisted tournament IRL.
First off, if you’re lucky enough to be hitting up SDCC, you can catch a sneak peek at Season 2 with the cast and crew. We’re talking executive producers Michael Jonathan Smith and Asad Qizilbash, the main man himself, Anthony Mackie, and co-stars Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Seanoa (that’s right, Samoa Joe!), and Anthony Carrigan. They'll be showing off what they've been cooking up on Thursday, July 24th, from 3:00 – 4:00 PM PT in Ballroom 20. A panel with that crew? Bloody oath, it'll be a laugh riot, no doubt.
But what's a demolition derby without some actual... demolition? On Saturday, July 26th, from 10:00 – 11:15 PM PT in Room 6DE, you can check out the first two episodes of Season 2. It sounds like they are really trying to amp up the weirdness, which, let's be honest, is exactly what we want from a 'Twisted Metal' adaptation.
Now, the real kicker: The 'Twisted Metal Bumper Battle' activation. From Thursday, July 24th to Saturday, July 26th, you can hop into reimagined versions of the show's iconic vehicles – as bumper cars! Yes, you read that right. Become John Doe, Quiet, or even Sweet Tooth (sort of) as you bash your way to glory. The event includes photo ops and displays of the tournament cars from the series, and according to IGN, "pandemonium around every corner." Sounds like a proper bit of fun, doesn't it?
Here's the need-to-know:
* **WHEN:** Thursday, July 24 – Saturday, July 26 * **HOURS:** * Thursday, July 24th: 12PM - 4PM * Friday, July 25th: 12PM - 6PM * Saturday, July 26th: 12PM – 6PM * **WHERE:** THE LOT @ 1ST & J - 450 2nd Ave, San Diego, CA 92101
Best of all, the Bumper Battle is free and open to the public – no badge required! Just remember, entry and bumper car participation are first-come, first-served, and you'll need to sign a waiver. Don't go blaming Calypso if you pull a hammy.
If you're itching for more 'Twisted Metal' goodness, remember Season 2 hits Peacock with three episodes on July 31, and then new episodes every Thursday through August 28. It sounds like we're in for a wild ride.
