Where Winds Meet Blows Exclusively onto PlayStation (For Now, At Least)

Everstone Studio's *Where Winds Meet* is hitting PlayStation first, but Xbox owners might not have to wait forever. It's another timed console exclusive deal, and whether that's good or bad for gamers is still up for debate.
Right, so Everstone Studio's been teasing us with *Where Winds Meet* for a while now, and the word on the street (or, y'know, the internet) is that it's going to be a PlayStation console exclusive at launch. Yep, you heard right. If you're itching to dive into this Wuxia-inspired action RPG on your telly, you'll need a PS5. Unless you're happy to stick to PC or mobile, that is.
Now, before you Xbox owners start sharpening your pitchforks, there's a tiny little disclaimer in the fine print: "Not available on other consoles until at least six months after release date." Sound familiar? (I'm looking at you, *Final Fantasy 16*). It seems Sony's been waving its chequebook around, securing timed exclusivity deals like they're going out of style.
And let's be fair dinkum, *Where Winds Meet* looks rather smashing. Set during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period of Chinese history, it's all about graceful combat, stunning visuals, and that Wuxia magic we've all been craving. Everstone's aiming to bring this genre to a wider audience, and a PlayStation console exclusive deal might just be the ticket.
But what does this mean for the rest of us? Well, if you're a PlayStation die-hard, crack open the champagne, mate! You're getting early access to what could be a real gem. If you're on Xbox (or patiently waiting for a PC release), you'll just have to sit tight and watch the pretty trailers. On the plus side, that gives you time to clear your gaming backlog, eh?
Speaking of waiting, there's a final beta test kicking off on July 25th for PC (via Steam) and PS5 players. You can sign up now to get your mitts on it. This beta's including Kaifeng, which is one of the game's urban areas.
It's worth noting that *Black Myth: Wukong*'s success has probably given the Chinese games industry a bit of a nudge towards console releases. We're seeing more and more Chinese-developed action RPGs heading our way, like *Wuchang: Fallen Feathers* and *Tides of Annihilation*. So, even if you're not a PlayStation fan, there's plenty to look forward to.
Whether timed exclusives are a good thing for gaming is a whole other kettle of fish. But hey, at least it gives us something to argue about while we wait, doesn't it?
