King Art Games released gameplay footage of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 showing two developers getting thoroughly crushed by Hard AI Orks in a cooperative skirmish.
When developers showcase their upcoming strategy games, they usually script a flawless victory to make everything look heroic. King Art Games took a refreshingly different route in a new 2v2 gameplay briefing for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, published by IGN South Africa. Creative director Jan Theysen and senior game designer Elliott Verbiest teamed up for a PvE skirmish against Hard AI Orks, and the results were nothing short of a massacre. The first match ended in a humiliating defeat in just over four minutes, proving that the team did not pad the difficulty for the cameras.
Even after declaring a do-over and adjusting victory conditions to buy themselves more time, the developers met a similar fate as wave after wave of Orks dismantled the Space Marines. Instead of editing out the trainwreck or lowering the difficulty until they secured a win, the team kept the footage intact. The video ended unceremoniously with a manual surrender after a thirteen minute struggle, offering a transparent look at the game's actual challenge level and a healthy dose of self-deprecation from the creators.
The community response on YouTube has been overwhelmingly positive, with players praising the transparency and joking about the sheer lethality of properly tuned Ork AI. It is a smart move that builds genuine trust with strategy fans who expect a real tactical challenge when the game launches. Dawn of War 4 is scheduled to hit PC on December 3, 2026, and based on this footage, players might want to think twice before jumping straight into hard mode.
