Warzone Gets a July Tune-Up: Did They Finally Fix That Annoying Exploit?

A new Warzone patch dropped, tweaking weapon balance (RIP marksman rifles?) and squashing bugs in Ranked Play and Plunder. Plus, Activision's asking for your birthday – are you old enough to handle the boom?

Right, listen up, Warzone fans! Seems like Activision's been tinkering under the hood again. A new patch dropped this July, and while it's not exactly a game-changer on the scale of, say, accidentally summoning a demon horde into Verdansk (remember that?), it does address some niggling issues. Word comes via Game Rant, so credit where credit is due, mate.

First up, Ranked Play: Resurgence. Apparently, those Portable Buy Stations were playing silly buggers and popping up in legendary crates when they shouldn't have been. Naughty, naughty! They've been slapped on the wrist and are now behaving as intended. Fair play to Activision for sorting that out – no one likes a wonky loot drop in a competitive mode.

Now, onto the boomsticks. Two marksman rifles, the DM-10 and TR2, have taken a bit of a nerf-bat to the face. The DM-10's damage and range have been trimmed, and the TR2 got hit even harder with damage reductions across the board. Ouch! General marksman rifle performance also took a knock, with reduced bullet velocity, slower ADS times, and increased sprint-to-fire delay. Is this a death knell for the DMR meta? Only time will tell, but I reckon we'll be seeing some interesting loadout shifts in the coming days. What's that saying? "Nerf one weapon and another two shall rise?"

But wait, there's more! The patch also squashes some bugs. Kills in the pre-match lobby are now correctly tracked (finally!), and players should no longer get stuck in the Ranked Play playlist lobby. Plus, that annoying glitch where editing attachments mid-match caused problems? Gone! Plunder mode also gets some love, with fixes for Attack Choppers being pacifists during overtime and cash pickups failing to double. Seriously, who wants half the money they worked for, especially if it can be doubled?

Oh, and remember that Spy Camera exploit in Ranked Play? The one that let you see through walls and generally be a right nuisance? Yeah, that's been dealt with. Spy Cameras are now firmly restricted from Ranked modes. Good riddance!

Finally, Activision’s also rolling out age verification prompts. So, if you're trying to sneak into Warzone and Black Ops 6 with a fake ID, you might get caught. Underage accounts will be culled in four months unless parental consent is submitted. Not a feature that drastically impacts the gameplay loop, but worth noting nonetheless.

So, there you have it: a patch that's more about tidying up than reinventing the wheel. But hey, a stable and balanced Warzone is a happy Warzone, right? Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to test these DMR changes and see if I can still land a cheeky headshot. Wish me luck!
