Warrior Cats is finally getting a major video game adaptation. Developed by Trailmark Games, Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest is a turn-based RPG heading to PC, current-gen consoles, and Nintendo systems in fall 2026, letting players create custom felines and explore the iconic fantasy wilderness.
For more than two decades, fans of the massive bestselling book series have waited for a proper screen or gaming adaptation. Those requests are finally getting answered in a big way. Alongside news of an upcoming animated series on Disney Plus, the franchise is officially making the jump to modern platforms with a brand new title. As reported by Game Rant, developer Trailmark Games and publisher Goliath have announced Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest, launching in fall 2026 for Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Unlike previous fan projects or graphic novels, this release is a full-scale turn-based RPG. Instead of merely retelling Firestar's journey, the game lets players create their own custom feline, pick a Clan, and carve out an original story across familiar environments like forests, rivers, and swamps. The reveal trailer showcased classic survival and combat loops, showing player characters hunting prey, climbing trees, and battling dangerous wildlife like badgers and snakes alongside familiar faces from the novels such as Brightheart and Cloudtail.
For a community that has spent over twenty years imagining what these territorial battles would look like in an interactive space, this release represents a massive milestone. Trailmark Games brings past development experience with titles like Cruis'n Blast and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade to the table, and anticipation is already high across social channels. We will be keeping a close eye on how the studio balances lore faithfulness with open player choice as the launch window approaches.
