Warhorse Studios Teases Potential Next-Gen Upgrade for Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Warhorse Studios has hinted at a potential PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S upgrade for the 2018 RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance, following up on recent insider leaks and the completion of work on the sequel.
Warhorse Studios has given the clearest hint yet that the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance might finally be getting a dedicated current-gen upgrade. Having recently wrapped up post-launch support and DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the development team appears to be shifting some focus back to the 2018 medieval RPG. When a fan directly asked about native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions on social media, the official Warhorse account responded with a simple side-eye emoji. While far from a formal announcement, the tease aligns closely with recent industry murmurs and gives players plenty of reason to watch for upcoming news.
This social media tease follows months of persistent rumors surrounding the franchise. Earlier this year, a reputable industry insider with a strong track record for series leaks claimed that a modern console update for the first game was quietly locked in for early next year, targeting a release window between January and April. While it is always smart to maintain some healthy skepticism toward unverified insider reports, the timing of this official developer tease makes the prospect feel much more realistic for players who have been hoping to revisit Henry's journey with modern performance upgrades.
For a game known for its uncompromising historical realism and deep simulation mechanics, a fresh coat of paint and smoother frame rates on current hardware would be a massive quality-of-life win. The original release captured a dedicated audience through its meticulous attention to detail and slow-burn storytelling, but performance limitations on older hardware always remained a hurdle. If Warhorse delivers a proper current-gen patch, it will give both veterans and newcomers the ideal excuse to dive back into one of the generation's most distinct historical role-playing experiences.
