Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader Gets Massive Switch 2 Patch and Free DLC After Rough Launch

Owlcat Games is overhauling the troubled Nintendo Switch 2 port of Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader with a major performance patch and making all current and future DLC expansions entirely free for players as an apology.

When Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader arrived on the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year, it landed with a thud. Critics and players quickly labeled the handheld port a technical disaster, dragging down one of the strongest party-based CRPGs of recent years. Owlcat Games is now attempting to turn the narrative around. According to a report by Nintendo Life, a massive update is rolling out today to tackle the performance bottlenecks and visual bugs that plagued the initial release.

The studio is going well beyond a standard performance patch to win back community trust. As a direct apology for the state of the port, Owlcat is making all additional content completely free for Switch 2 owners. This generous bundle includes Digital Deluxe items, existing expansions like Void Shadows and Lex Imperialis, and confirms that the third and fourth major DLC drops will also be included at no extra cost when they launch.

This redemption arc coincides with plans for a proper physical cartridge release arriving in October through a partnership with Silver Lining Interactive and Games Workshop. For players who held off on the portable version, the combination of a heavily optimized build and a complete package of expansions makes this a compelling second chance. It is a welcome shift from developers who ignore rocky platform launches and instead invest in making things right for the players who bought in early.
