Warframe's 'The Old Peace' Update: Matrix Baths, Robo-Ladies, and Maybe...Peace?

Digital Extremes revealed Warframe's 2025 end-of-year update, 'The Old Peace,' which promises robo-ladies, Matrix-style hallucinations, and a deep dive into the game's lore and a new Warframe called Uriel that has a strong connection to one of the people who worked on Warframe. Plus, they are bringing out a TTRPG so we can play Warframe on our tabletops too!

Right, Tenno, buckle up, because Digital Extremes just dropped a TennoCon bombshell that's got me scratching my head and reaching for the void juice. We're talking about Warframe's end-of-year update for 2025, lovingly titled 'The Old Peace.' And honestly, calling it 'peace' feels like calling a Grineer heavy gunner 'slightly grumpy.'

According to Rock Paper Shotgun, who bravely ventured into the TennoCon fray, 'The Old Peace' is all about exploring a pre-existing conflict. Specifically, the "war-scarring conflict between the Orokin, their creations, and a coalition of Dax Anarch Warriors" on the Perita moon. Sounds cheerful, eh?

The demo, apparently, kicks off with a proper dust-up against a massive robo-lad. But here's where things get properly weird (as if Warframe ever *isn't* weird). Turns out, the robo-lad is piloted by a smaller robo-lady. She then tags along while you're basically tripping balls in a Matrix-esque tech bath with the Lotus. Yes, *that* Lotus, who's been guiding us through the carnage since day one. Are we getting some backstory on why she talks to us while we murder everything in sight? Probably!

Creative Director Rebecca Ford reckons that this update will give us the lowdown on a time when things on Tau (one of the planets) *could* have been different. Peace? In Warframe? I'll believe it when I see it. But I'm also weirdly excited to see *how* they make it all go horribly wrong.

But wait, there's more! Alongside 'The Old Peace,' we're getting a standalone side story called 'The Devil's Triad'. Expect three nasty bosses, a new Warframe named Uriel (devil-themed, naturally), and a couple of protoframes to boot. Apparently, Uriel was the last Warframe that former art director Michael 'Mynki' Brennan worked on before his passing, which gives it some proper weight. It's a nice way to honor his contributions, I reckon.

Before all *that* madness, we've got an autumn update coming with a Lavos Deluxe cosmetic (looking fancy!), a rework of Oberon (hallelujah!), and a quest called 'The Teacher.' Now, don't get too excited, it is not about learning how to turn your kubrow into a Sentient. This is a quest designed to teach new players about Warframe's modding system. (i.e. adding stuff to gear).

Digital Extremes, according to Rock Paper Shotgun, is also teaming up with the Starfinder crew at Paizo to release a Warframe TTRPG module called 'Warframe x Starfinder: Operation Orias' in October. Dice rolls and space ninjas? Sounds like a recipe for a good time.

And if all that wasn't enough, the TennoCon showing ended with a tease for 'Tau,' a 2026 update that will continue the current "Void War" storyline. So, yeah, no slowing down for Warframe anytime soon.

It sounds like Digital Extremes is doubling down on the lore and, let's be honest, the general insanity that makes Warframe so...Warframe. And while I remain cautiously optimistic about the 'peace' part, I'm definitely ready to dive headfirst into whatever hallucinogenic, robo-filled chaos they've cooked up for us.
