War Thunder Mobile has launched its Mech Thunder event, running until April 15, 2026, bringing 10v10 battles featuring bipedal mechs, experimental weapons, and new maps to the mobile title.
Gaijin Entertainment is shaking up the usual vehicle combat loop in War Thunder Mobile with a surprise April Fools' release. The newly launched Mech Thunder event introduces walking military mechs directly into the core gameplay experience. Running from April 1 through April 15, 2026, the limited time mode gives players a chance to test out early prototypes of these bipedal war machines before they potentially transition into a more permanent fixture of the game's overall meta. It is a fun nod to the community love for speculative military tech, wrapped up in a fully playable sandbox.
The event drops players into 10 versus 10 matches where classic tanks must share the front lines with agile light scout walkers and heavy units equipped with howitzers and experimental missile systems. These matches play out across three distinct maps, ranging from a busy port cargo terminal to a stylized Japanese location featuring traditional architecture set against a backdrop of massive airships. Beyond just shaking up the tactical variety on mobile screens, the event offers dedicated reward tracks, giving grinders a chance to lock in rare vehicles for their standard garages.
While seasonal joke updates often come and go as simple novelty modes, developer roadmaps frequently use these live testing grounds to gauge community interest in new mechanics. If the player base embraces the chaos of heavy walking artillery, we might see these experimental platforms integrated more deeply into future updates. For mobile players looking for a quick shift in pace, this event delivers a solid tactical shakeup without demanding a massive time sink.
