Until Dawn 2 Arrives on PS5 This January With Star-Studded Narrative Talent On Board

Until Dawn 2 lands on PS5 this January, trading snowy mountains for a tropical island with narrative support from the studio behind Dispatch.

Sony used its latest State of Play showcase to confirm that Until Dawn 2 will launch for PlayStation 5 on January 28, trading the snowy alpine resort of the original cult classic for a sun-kissed tropical setting. As reported by Eurogamer, the sequel follows a crew of TV ghosthunters known as the Dead True as they head to the remote Akishima Island. While the game features an entirely fresh cast of characters, Peter Stormare is officially returning to reprise his role as the unhinged Dr. Hill, bringing his signature psychological dread back to the franchise.

Development duties have shifted to Firesprite Games, but the studio has brought in heavy narrative hitters to shape the story. AdHoc Studio, the brilliant team behind last year's narrative hit Dispatch, is collaborating on the project to deliver sharp dialogue, complex relationships, and the kind of high-stakes branching choices that define the genre. Players can expect the usual heavy emphasis on consequence where every interaction can lead to another gruesome demise, keeping the focus squarely on player agency and survival.

Alongside the standard release, Sony announced a Deluxe Digital Edition featuring the Y2K Neon Vibes cosmetic pack and a Diorama of Death viewer mode for inspecting your favorite grisly endings. Pre-orders kick off on September 10 with classic outfits and in-game collector bobbleheads for dedicated fans. For a franchise that started out fighting for its place in the market a decade ago, this sequel is shaping up to be a major tentpole moment for horror fans across the console space when it drops this winter.
