Universal Pictures has released the official trailer for One Night Only, an upcoming comedic romance film heading to theaters on August 7. Directed by Will Gluck, the movie drops viewers into a slightly fictionalized version of New York City on a high stakes night where single people navigate a sprawling urban dating scene. The narrative follows Allie and Owen, two strangers played by Maya Hawke and Callum Turner, who cross paths when they find themselves searching for something genuine in a notoriously surface level culture. Recently dumped and desperately seeking a real connection, the pair experience an immediate spark before a chaotic chain of missteps and detours scatters them across the five boroughs.
The supporting cast brings together a recognizable mix of acting talent and internet culture icons, including Monica Barbaro, Julia Fox, King Princess, Ziwe, Ben Marshall, Molly Ringwald, and Levar Burton. Produced by Jacqueline Monetta and Will Gluck, the project leans into a fast paced, obstacle heavy structure that feels heavily inspired by modern dating app fatigue and the relentless pursuit of meaningful interaction in a hyper connected world.
For audiences tracking cross over talent from the broader entertainment landscape, seeing creators and internet mainstays alongside traditional Hollywood stars highlights how modern casting continues to bridge traditional cinema with contemporary digital culture. You can catch the full preview over at IGN South Africa, and keep an eye out for the film when it officially lands in theaters this summer.
