Umbrella's Back in Business? New Resident Evil Strategy Game Announced!

Capcom's unleashing a new Resident Evil strategy game, 'Survival Unit,' for mobile, with promises of authenticity and global availability, potentially set before Umbrella Corp's downfall. We'll find out if it survives July 10th's showcase.

Right, zombie aficionados, hold onto your hats because Capcom just dropped another Resident Evil bomb on us. If you thought *Resident Evil Requiem* was all the undead action you could handle, think again, mate. A brand-spanking-new strategy game called *Resident Evil: Survival Unit* is shambling its way to mobile devices.

Now, before you start picturing clunky mobile ports, Capcom assures us they're working in "close collaboration" with Aniplex Inc and Joycity Corporation to keep things authentic. (Yeah, yeah, we've heard that song and dance before, but hey, a bloke can dream, can't he?).

Details are scarcer than hen's teeth at the moment, but apparently, we'll get a proper gander on July 10th at 11 PM UK time. The devs reckon it'll appeal to old-school fans and newbies alike. (Sound familiar? It's the same line they always trot out. But maybe, just maybe, they've actually got something interesting up their sleeves this time). It's slated for a global release across Japan, South Korea, North America, Europe, and Asia, whenever that actually happens.

They even teased us with some artwork. Think: ominous storm clouds, a dodgy-looking car, and, of course, an Umbrella Corporation sign plastered with the words "Our business is life itself…" Two blissfully ignorant souls are smiling away on the sign. Bless their cotton socks – they've clearly not met a Licker yet.

Given that Umbrella bit the dust back in 2003 after all the Raccoon City shenanigans, it's a safe bet that *Survival Unit* is set before then. A prequel, perhaps? Could be interesting to see what exactly Umbrella was doing to cause so much chaos.

Speaking of Umbrella, could this mobile strategy game be a testing ground for introducing blockchain-based resources for survival? Imagine trading resources on the blockchain - but let's not get ahead of ourselves. This is pure speculation, but it's 2025, and you never know what monstrosities gaming companies are planning to unleash next.

Anyway, back to *Resident Evil Requiem*. Apparently, our Alex had a go on it and screamed so loud the poor souls in the next booth nearly had a heart attack. That's a pretty good endorsement, right?

So, what does it all mean? Well, we're getting another Resident Evil game, and that's rarely a bad thing. Whether it's a stroke of genius or just another zombie in the mobile graveyard remains to be seen. But I reckon it's worth keeping an eye on. Mark your calendars for July 10th. It's going to be a bloody wild ride.
