Ubisoft has officially confirmed the long-rumored Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake through a social media meme response, following recent project delays and studio restructuring.
After years of stubborn silence, Ubisoft has officially acknowledged the heavily rumored Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag remake. As reported by Mark Warren over at Rock Paper Shotgun, the confirmation arrived in the most modern corporate way possible. A brand social media account responded to a random user selling an Edward Kenway plastic trinket on Vinted by posting the classic Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas meme, finally breaking the long-standing embargo on the project.
The timing of this casual drop arrives against a much heavier backdrop for the publisher. Ubisoft recently announced a wave of game delays and cancellations, pushing the Black Flag remake window into the financial year ending March 2027. Those project shifts arrived alongside corporate restructuring, job cuts, and union strike actions. The stark contrast between ongoing industry layoffs and sudden corporate marketing beats highlights a recurring disconnect in modern gaming, where the human cost of development cycles often clashes with the surreal drip-feed of product announcements.
For players, the confirmation finally puts to rest years of leaks, voice actor teases, and Steam database updates. While we are still quite a ways off from stepping back onto the deck of the Jackdaw, knowing the project is officially on the horizon changes the conversation. As the industry navigates a turbulent period of restructuring, this long-awaited return to the series' pirate golden age remains a massive talking point for fans across console and PC communities.
