Ubisoft has officially confirmed that a ground-up remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is heading to modern platforms this summer. Titled Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, the upcoming release brings Edward Kenway's pirate adventure back with completely overhauled visuals, dynamic weather systems, and high-resolution textures designed to make Caribbean exploration feel far more immersive. While the core narrative of the pirate turned assassin remains intact, the game features significant mechanical overhauls, including a more action-oriented combat system with dual-wielding options, perfect parries, and a proper stealth-crouch feature that long-time fans have requested for years.
Developer Ubisoft Singapore is also addressing some of the most infamous pain points from the original 2013 release. According to details shared during the reveal, the notorious tailing and eavesdropping missions have been revamped to be much smoother, sparing players the frustration of frequent desynchronizations. The Jackdaw is getting major upgrades as well, including increased firepower, new officers with distinct narrative questlines, and the ability to keep pets like cats and monkeys on board. However, players should note that this reimagining focuses entirely on the single-player campaign, omitting the original multiplayer modes and DLC.
As the industry continues to lean heavily into remasters and remakes, this project gives one of the most beloved entries in the franchise a second life on current hardware. For a detailed breakdown of the announcement, you can check out the original report on Polygon.
