Ahead of its November release, a breakdown of Grand Theft Auto 6 trailers highlights how protagonists Jason and Lucia have visually evolved and gained deeper detail since 2023.
As we approach the long-awaited launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 next month, a closer look at promotional materials reveals how much protagonists Jason and Lucia have evolved since their initial 2023 reveal. While many major releases suffer from visual downgrades between early trailers and final delivery, Rockstar has moved in the opposite direction. IGN South Africa notes that the graphical leap between the initial reveal and subsequent footage highlights a dramatic increase in asset fidelity and overall polish.
The progression is especially clear in the character models. In the 2023 trailer, Lucia featured flatter textures and limited hair movement, while Jason appeared as a relatively standard character model. By the second trailer and subsequent extended gameplay showcases, both characters gained significant depth. We now see natural skin responses to the Vice City heat, complex hair physics, and subtle human imperfections that point to deep player customization systems.
Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson previously explained that the first trailer served as a thematic mission statement rather than a fully formed build. With the ESRB officially rating the game M for Mature and physical marketing appearing in major cities, the final product is ready. Players will finally get their hands on the finished version when GTA 6 releases on November 19.
