Tracer's Time-Warping Glitch Breaks the Overwatch 2 Stadium Economy

Tracer was temporarily disabled in Overwatch 2 Stadium after a time-warping bug allowed her to keep item buffs while refunding her cash.

Tracer has officially been benched in Overwatch 2. According to a report by Eric Law at Game Rant, the iconic damage hero was temporarily disabled in the new Stadium game mode just days after arriving in the mid-Season 18 update. The issue stems from a hilarious and completely broken interaction with her signature Recall ability.

Players quickly discovered that they could purchase items from the Armory, sell them back, and immediately trigger Recall. This sequence allowed Tracer to retain the permanent stat benefits of the sold gear while keeping her empty inventory slots and getting all of her Stadium cash refunded. Screenshots shared by community members showed Tracer running around with over 1600 health and armor, turning the fragile flanker into an unkillable raid boss.

It is a uniquely thematic bug for a character whose whole identity revolves around bending time, but it completely wrecked the match economy. Blizzard pulled her from the mode while they work on a fix. There is no official word yet on when she will return, though players on social media and streaming platforms are already making the most of the downtime with memes. Meanwhile, the development team is already looking ahead to Season 19, which is scheduled to introduce new heroes like Torbjorn and Sojourn to the Stadium roster.
