Total War: Warhammer 3 Just Got a Massive Tweak - Are Your Favourite Units Still Viable?
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Creative Assembly just dropped a massive patch for Total War: Warhammer 3, tweaking everything from AI behavior to individual unit stats, so time to re-learn your favourite faction! The Tides of Torment DLC, however, might be a no-show this July – but we're keeping our fingers crossed.
Alright, listen up, generals! Creative Assembly's been fiddling with the dials again, and *Total War: Warhammer 3* has just received Patch 6.2.2. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Another patch? What's broken *now*?" But hold your horses (or your demigryphs, depending on your faction), because this one's a doozy.
According to Game Rant, this update isn't just about fixing a few wonky textures or typos (though, let's be honest, those are important too). It’s a proper deep-dive into faction balance, performance enhancements, and even a cheeky AI update for the Warriors of Chaos campaign (because, let’s face it, they needed it). It’s been only a few weeks since patch 6.2 dropped, but 6.2.2 comes with a hefty list of bug fixes and balance adjustments which touch pretty much all units and their abilities across the board.
So, what's the gist? Well, brace yourselves, because it's a long list. Creative Assembly seem intent on keeping *Warhammer 3* fresh, with a LOT of tweaks to units and abilities across pretty much every single faction imaginable. This comes after recent alterations to the Magic System. We're talking about nearly 100 different factions with a massive range of variables, so I guess some updates are to be expected.
For those of you who fancy a bit of Domination mode (contesting points against other players), the elite infantry units will now find themselves to be much more useful than the lesser ones, due to a boost to their capture power. You'll also find that all foot characters now ignore knockback a whole 40% of the time, including all of those light non-combat characters such as wizards, who may be slightly more sturdy than previously.
Speaking of the Warriors of Chaos, the AI should now be a bit smarter about building priorities. Apparently, it was having a bit of trouble deciding what to build first (sound familiar?), so they've given it a nudge in the right direction. The "Auto-construct buildings" feature should now be much better at choosing the correct buildings. Hopefully, this will prevent the AI from building, like, five temples to Nurgle in a single province (unless, of course, that's *exactly* what it wants to do. Then fair play).
There's a whole heap of bug fixes in the works as well, and hopefully, all of you running the game on HDDs will experience much shorter loading times, plus there's the odd fix of actions which previously caused the game to crash, and improvements to some UI visibility issues.
Now, before you all start sharpening your axes and plotting your next campaign, a word of caution: The *Tides of Torment* DLC, which was slated to drop in July, is looking a little less likely to actually arrive this month. Creative Assembly are also planning on celebrating the series' 25th anniversary from August to November, culminating in a *Total War: 25th Anniversary Showcase* in December. Fingers crossed the DLC drops before summer's over, eh? Either way, it's time to dust off your strategy guides and prepare for some serious re-learning. Your old tactics might not cut it anymore, mate.
**The Big Changes (in a nutshell):**
* **AI Improvements:** Warriors of Chaos AI gets a brain boost. * **Balance Tweaks:** Almost every unit and faction gets a little love (or a nerf). * **Domination Mode:** Elite infantry is now actually useful for capturing points. * **Bug Fixes:** Hopefully, fewer crashes and faster loading times. Always a win. * **40% Knockback Resistance for all Foot Characters**: Wizards, rejoice!
So, there you have it. Patch 6.2.2 is live, and the world of *Total War: Warhammer 3* has shifted on its axis. Time to dive back in and see what's changed. Just don't blame me if your favorite unit got nerfed into oblivion. That's just the way the Great Plan crumbles, sometimes.
