Total War: Warhammer 3 is getting its first character pack, adding a cat-themed Grand Cathay unit led by the agile and fiery new character Bhashiva.
Creative Assembly is shaking up the Grand Cathay faction in Total War: Warhammer 3 with the game's first character pack. As detailed by Rock Paper Shotgun, this new tier of DLC shifts away from massive expansions to offer smaller, focused drops built around a single character and a handful of units. Coming in at a modest price point, the first pack introduces Bhashiva, a brand new Warhammer character, alongside her deadly entourage of Tiger Warriors. Bhashiva acts as a stealthy, highly agile combatant who utilizes incendiary weapons and teleportation abilities to melt enemy resistances and dart through chaotic battlefields.
The accompanying Tiger Warrior units bring a fresh dynamic to Grand Cathay by acting as swift ambushers supported by versatile Clawspeaker spellcasters. For players who might not own previous Grand Cathay expansions, Creative Assembly has sensibly included access to the core roster within the pack purchase so you get a complete and playable experience right out of the box. Beyond this feline-focused drop, the studio has plenty more on the horizon, including the necromancer-heavy Lords of the End Times expansion and eventual movement toward Total War: Warhammer 40,000 and Total War: Medieval 3.
While community skepticism around ongoing monetization and DLC pricing is always valid, trading heavy wallet-drains for bite-sized content drops feels like a step in the right direction. It keeps the community engaged without demanding a massive financial commitment for every minor update. Whether these murderous cats can truly shift the meta for Grand Cathay remains to be seen, but adding agile vanguard specialists to the roster gives strategy fans a fun new tactical puzzle to solve on PC and Mac.
