Tom Cruise Departs From Blockbusters in First Trailer for Offbeat Comedy Digger

Tom Cruise has revealed the first teaser trailer for Digger, an offbeat comedy directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu featuring an all-star supporting cast.
Tom Cruise is stepping away from high octane action franchises for a surprisingly surreal turn in Digger, a brand new comedy film that just dropped its first teaser. Originally reported by IGN South Africa, the project marks a major departure for the Mission Impossible star. The film is directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, known for helming The Revenant, with a script penned by the co-writers of Birdman.
While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the initial teaser leans heavily into absurdity. The footage opens with a simple spade striking a carpeted floor before cutting to a man wearing shorts and cowboy boots preparing to dig. Later shots show the same shovel-toting character skipping along a pier, leaving audiences with plenty of questions and almost no narrative context.
Despite the mystery surrounding the plot, the movie boasts an incredible supporting cast. John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jesse Plemons, Emma D'Arcy, Sandra Hüller, Sophie Wilde, Riz Ahmed, Burn Gorman, and Pip Torrens are all attached to the project. For anyone tracking prestige cinema or looking for a wild cinematic palette cleanser between gaming marathon sessions, Digger is quickly becoming one of the most intriguing wildcards on the upcoming release schedule.
