Looking for something to play this weekend on Xbox Game Pass? Polygon has put together a curated trio of recommendations including the Resident Evil 2 remake, Planet of Lana 2, and the original Slay the Spire.
March has brought a massive wave of new releases like Slay the Spire 2 and Marathon, but subscription libraries continue to offer incredible value for players looking to catch up on hidden gems and franchise foundations without paying full price. This weekend, Xbox Game Pass features a trio of curated recommendations that bridge the gap between recent blockbusters and essential indie classics. For players swept up in the current horror conversation, diving back into the catalogue is a smart move.
Capitalizing on the massive momentum of the recently released Resident Evil Requiem, subscribers can jump straight into the acclaimed Resident Evil 2 remake on Game Pass. Serving as a stellar precursor to the latest entry, it lets players experience the tense, beautifully paced survival horror of rookie cop Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield while waiting for sales on newer titles. Alongside Capcom's classic, the recently launched Planet of Lana 2 brings cinematic indie puzzle platforming to the platform. It features deep mechanics, gorgeous expressive animation, and an approachable entry point that does not require playing the 2023 original, though both are currently available to stream or download.
Rounding out the weekend picks is the original Slay the Spire, giving players a chance to experience the blueprint for the modern roguelike deckbuilder craze. While its sequel is currently dominating discussions across social channels and creator streams, the 2019 original remains a masterclass in strategic depth and run variety. As gaming continues to balance massive new releases with accessible subscription perks, checking out these foundational titles offers the ideal weekend lineup.
