This Mad Lass Is Speedrunning *Every* Wii Game: Is She a Hero or Just Insane?
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Some absolute legend is trying to speedrun every single Wii game released. This is either the most dedicated thing I've ever seen, or a sign of impending madness.
Right, so you know the Wii, that little white box that convinced your nan she was a pro bowler? Well, someone's decided to speedrun *every single game* released for it in North America. I'm not even joking.
According to Game Rant, the speedrunner, Storster (massive respect for the dedication, mate), is posting her exploits on YouTube. Twenty games down, and a whole heap more to go. I'm talking the *big* hitters like *Mario Kart Wii* (Storster calls it "the best Mario Kart," a bold claim, I reckon!), *New Super Mario Bros. Wii*, and even *Silent Hill: Shattered Memories* (a truly bizarre entry in the series – the game actively messes with you!). But, she is also tackling absolute *gems* (read: total stinkers) like *Rubik's World*, *DeFenDin' De Penguin*, and *All Star Cheer Squad*. Fair play to her.
Now, I've seen some dedication in my time, but this is next-level. The Wii had *hundreds* of games. Hundreds! Think about the sheer volume of shovelware Storster is wading through for our amusement. Is she some kind of saint? Or is she just completely off her rocker? The jury's still out.
And let's be honest, the Wii holds a special place in many of our hearts. It was a simpler time, a time of waggle controls and motion sickness. A time when Nintendo dared to be different (and sometimes, spectacularly failed). It's easy to forget, though, that the Wii was a *massive* success, going toe-to-toe with the PS3 and Xbox 360. Games like *Super Mario Galaxy* and *Super Smash Bros. Brawl* were absolute bangers that people are still talking about today.
But this speedrunning challenge? It's more than just nostalgia. It's a reminder of the sheer weirdness and variety of the Wii library. You had your AAA titles, sure, but you also had a mountain of bizarre, experimental games that you just wouldn't see on other consoles. The Wii was a playground for developers, a place where they could try new things, even if those things sometimes involved penguins defending themselves from… something. (I honestly don't know what they're defending themselves from. Play the game, I guess?).
Speaking of the speedrunning community, these guys are a different breed, aren't they? We've had someone beat the unreleased Switch 2 version of Zelda, whatever that means. Then there was the bloke who flattened Mike Tyson in *Punch-Out!!* in two minutes. These guys don't mess around. Is Storster on her way to speedrunning glory or eternal memedom? Only time will tell, but I will be tuning in to watch it all unfold.
So, hats off to Storster. You're a legend. Or completely bonkers. Possibly both. Either way, you've earned my respect… and probably a very sore arm.
