The Witcher 3 Remastered Lands With Massive Overhauls, Cross-Platform Mods, and New Accessibility Tools

CD Projekt Red is rolling out a comprehensive remaster for The Witcher 3 featuring upgraded visuals, a revamped skill tree, cross-platform mod support, and extensive quality-of-life additions available as a free upgrade for current owners.

CD Projekt Red is bringing its defining 2015 RPG back into the spotlight with the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. Existing owners of the game can grab the upgrade at no additional cost, which also bundles in the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions while laying the groundwork for the brand-new Songs of the Past expansion arriving next year. Developer patch notes confirm that the update goes far beyond simple resolution bumps, touching nearly every aspect of the core experience.

The massive patch introduces a complete modernization of the skill system, shifting abilities into a structured skill tree with three ranks per skill and a full reset of spent points. Combat fluidity gets a major boost through refined monster behaviors, smoother movement animations for Geralt and Roach, and a new gear transmog system that lets players wear any armor set while keeping their preferred stats. On the technical side, the game adds native DirectX 12 rendering, advanced upscaling support including DLSS and FSR, and path tracing on PC, alongside dedicated platform optimizations for PS5 Pro, Xbox Play Anywhere, and even upcoming hardware.

Accessibility and community features also take center stage in this new release. A dedicated accessibility tab introduces the Bard Ballad preset, which helps reduce cognitive load by offering toggles for infinite item durability, unlimited breath, and adjustable vitality regeneration. Meanwhile, console and PC players alike can now dive into cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io right from the main menu, making it easier than ever to curate custom adventures across any device.
