The Watterson family is officially heading back to our screens. According to IGN South Africa, the official trailer for Season 2 of The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball has dropped, giving fans a chaotic look at what is next for Elmore. The upcoming season is set to premiere on Monday, December 22, streaming exclusively on Hulu and through Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers. Creator and executive producer Ben Bocquelet is returning alongside a talented creative team to deliver more of the genre-blending comedy that made the franchise a household name.
The new season leans heavily into its signature brand of sharp satire and visual experimentation. Viewers can expect Gumball, Darwin, and the rest of the town to tackle plenty of absurd situations, including a high-stakes promposal involving Penny faking her own death, suburban wildlife invasions, and a student cult running a yearbook seance. Fans following the overarching plotlines will also see the long-awaited return of the franchise major antagonist, Rob, alongside the looming threat of The Void.
True to form, the series continues to stand out for its unique aesthetic. The production blends 2D and 3D animation, CGI, puppetry, live action, and photorealism into a seamless mixed-media playground. With Alkaio Thiele leading the voice cast as Gumball alongside returning favorites like Hero Hunter and Teresa Gallagher, the new episodes are shaping up to deliver the same cross-generational appeal that makes the show a favorite for watch parties and community meme culture alike.
