Valve has priced the new Steam Machine starting at $1049 for the 512GB base model, with reservations now open on Steam.
Valve has finally revealed the pricing for the returning Steam Machine, and it carries a heavy cost. According to IGN South Africa, the mini gaming PC starts at $1049 for the 512GB version. For players who want to jump in and secure a unit, reservations are officially live on Steam.
That starting price only covers the console itself, meaning you will need to look elsewhere for peripherals or pay extra to complete the setup. If you want to bundle in the newly priced Steam Controller, the total comes to $1128. That puts the controller at a slight discount when bought as part of the bundle compared to purchasing it standalone for $99.
Hardware pricing remains a sensitive topic for players right now, especially with ongoing component shortages affecting the industry. Dropping over a thousand dollars on a living room PC is a significant investment for any community member. Valve is banking on the convenience and flexibility of its ecosystem to convince players that the price tag is justified.
