Time is running out to secure your digital companion collection from the Nintendo 3DS era. According to a recent report by Eurogamer, The Pokémon Company has officially announced that Pokémon Bank will shut down on February 25, 2027. Trainers now have less than 200 days to migrate their stored Pokémon over to Pokémon Home, or risk losing them permanently.
Originally launched in 2013, Pokémon Bank served as an essential hub for moving creatures across generations from titles like X and Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and Sun and Moon. While the 3DS eShop closed back in 2023, the application remained active for existing users until now. Once the service goes offline, the migration bridge to Pokémon Home will vanish.
On the bright side, the announcement brought confirmation that FireRed and LeafGreen will finally gain Pokémon Home compatibility in October 2026. This addition has naturally sparked speculation across the community regarding potential ports for Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, though Nintendo has yet to confirm anything official. If you still have prized shiny catches or competitive builds sitting in the 3DS cloud, it is time to dust off your old hardware and complete the transfer before the deadline.
