The Makers of The Blackout Club Return with Occult Card Battler The Killing Stone

Question Games, the studio behind The Blackout Club, has launched their occult-themed Arctic mystery card battler, The Killing Stone, into Steam Early Access.

Question Games, the indie studio founded by industry veterans with deep roots in immersive sims like BioShock, Thief, and Dishonored, is back with a new project. The team has officially launched The Killing Stone into Steam Early Access, bringing a chilling mix of narrative mystery and deckbuilding strategy to PC players. Known for their previous work on The Magic Circle and The Blackout Club, the developers are leaning hard into atmospheric storytelling with this latest release, blending tactical card play with first person exploration.

The game drops players into a grim 17th century Arctic mansion where they must play a literal tabletop game against demons to save the souls of the cursed Svangard family. Between matches, you explore the sprawling estate in first person, interacting with animal familiars and the surviving family members while trying to solve the disappearance of a character named Mariken. Drawing clear inspiration from atmospheric hits like Inscryption, the title splits its identity between tense card battles and a deeply occult narrative backdrop, complete with a unique mix of period accurate and modern dialogue alongside full voice acting.

The initial early access build offers roughly six to eight hours of playtime, featuring three story acts tied to specific family members and custom decks, plus three distinct demon lords to challenge. Question Games plans to use the early access period to gather community feedback on Discord, expand the voice work, add localization, and build toward a major endgame update called The Reckoning. With a target of six months in early access before the full 1.0 release, it is an ambitious swing for a studio with a history of fascinating, albeit sometimes rough around the edges, cult hits.
