Li Jun Li has joined the cast of HBO's The Last of Us Season 3 as Miriam, the mother of Seraphite siblings Lev and Yara, adding a brand new original character to the series.
HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us continues to expand its ensemble for the upcoming third season. According to a recent report by Variety and covered by IGN South Africa, Sinners star Li Jun Li has officially joined the cast. She will play a character named Miriam, stepping into the world of Naughty Dog's prestige television translation just as the narrative pushes deeper into the events of the second game.
While Miriam is not a figure players encountered in the original source material, her role carries immediate narrative weight. The series has already cast the actors who will portray Lev and Yara, the pivotal Seraphite siblings from the second game, positioning Miriam as their mother. This addition points toward the writers continuing their strategy of fleshing out background elements and family dynamics that were only hinted at during the interactive experience.
For fans tracking the show alongside its source material, original additions like Miriam offer a fresh reason to tune in. The television format has consistently used its extra runtime to explore the broader sociological and familial fractures of this post apocalyptic setting. As production ramps up for what is shaping up to be the final stretch of the adaptation, these character expansions will likely give us a much sharper look at the factional divides that define the world.
