The Ghost Event: Why Arc Raiders Players Are Obsessed With the Missing Locked Gate

Arc Raiders players are captivated by 'Locked Gate', an ultra-rare map event that appeared for just one hour before being pulled by Embark Studios due to an empty loot bug.
Extraction shooters thrive on community lore, and Arc Raiders just generated a massive piece of it by accident. According to a report by Polygon, a remarkably rare map event called Locked Gate appeared on the Blue Gate map for just one hour back on November 13, and it has not been seen since. Unlike standard farming events that spawn extra resources or bosses, this activity tasked players with tracking down four separate key cards scattered across high-risk PvP zones like Raider's Refuge and Pilgrim's Peak to override an emergency shutdown protocol.
The catch is that the event was pulled almost immediately after going live because of a frustrating bug. Players who managed to coordinate squads and survive the chaos to open the final tunnel discovered that the vault was entirely empty. Embark Studios swiftly disabled the event to sort out the issue, but the community has been left guessing about its return ever since. With updates rolling out on a measured schedule, speculation is running wild that the developers might be holding the fixed version back for a major content drop, potentially alongside upcoming seasonal map conditions like Cold Snap.
For the few players who completed the objective while it was live, the missing loot turned the event into a legendary badge of honor. It is the kind of organic, chaotic emergent gameplay that makes extraction shooters worth playing in the first place, even when things completely break. If Embark has any sense, they will not only bring Locked Gate back into rotation soon, but they will also drop a subtle cosmetic reward for the brave souls who cleared it during its disastrous, one-hour debut.
