The nominees for The Game Awards 2025 are officially out, setting the stage for what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive years in recent memory. Host Geoff Keighley revealed the full list ahead of the December 11 ceremony at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Beyond the trophies, the annual broadcast has firmly established itself as a major cultural moment for the community, drawing massive creator co-streams on Twitch and YouTube alongside the usual anticipation for next-generation world premieres and trailers.
The battle for Game of the Year features a powerhouse lineup, including Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Donkey Kong Bananza, Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. It is a diverse mix that highlights how the industry continues to deliver across mobile, console, and PC platforms. Naturally, the community debate started almost immediately. High-profile creator Shroud recently sparked discussion by publicly backing ARC Raiders over frontrunner Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, proving that the discourse around who deserves the industry's highest honor is just as loud as the games themselves.
As we count down the weeks to December 11, the focus shifts from speculation to the ceremony itself, where winners will be crowned and our first real look at the 2026 gaming calendar will be unveiled. Whether you are tuning in for the creator reactions, the digital storefront sales that always accompany the show, or just to see which studio takes home the hardware, The Game Awards remains an unmissable community event.
