The Game Awards 2025 just wrapped up a massive showcase celebrating the industry's biggest achievements and dropping heavy-hitting announcements for the years ahead. According to a live breakdown by IGN, the night belonged to Sandfall Interactive when Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 swept nearly every category it was nominated in, capped off by taking home the Game of the Year trophy. To celebrate the massive win, the team dropped a brand new DLC on the spot, giving players an immediate new dungeon, bosses, and enemies to tackle across PC and consoles.
The showcase also delivered long-awaited dream projects and franchise returns. Casey Hudson and Arcanaut Studios officially pulled back the curtain on Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, a single-player narrative action RPG serving as a spiritual successor to KOTOR. Meanwhile, Larian Studios finally unmasked that mysterious Mojave Desert statue by revealing its next massive project simply titled Divinity, which the Baldur's Gate 3 developer is calling its largest game to date. Capcom also gave survival horror fans what they wanted by confirming that Leon S. Kennedy will return alongside Grace Ashcroft as a playable character in Resident Evil Requiem, launching February 27, 2026.
Lara Croft fans have plenty to look forward to with Crystal Dynamics confirming a double feature for the iconic adventurer. A reimagining of the 1996 classic titled Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis arrives in 2026, followed quickly by a brand new mainline entry called Tomb Raider: Catalyst in 2027. Between massive single-player RPGs, surprise DLC drops, and veteran character returns, this year's awards proved that the upcoming release calendar is stacked for players everywhere.
