We have our eyes on the horizon as 20th Century Studios drops the second official trailer for The Dog Stars. Hitting theaters on August 28, this sci-fi dystopian survival drama adapts Peter Heller's acclaimed novel with a heavy-hitting cast that includes Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, and Margaret Qualley. The narrative follows Hig, a young pilot, and a hardened military survivalist named Bangley as they carve out an isolated homestead in a harsh post-apocalyptic world. When a random radio transmission cuts through the static, it sparks a journey that challenges everything they know about survival and human connection.
Behind the camera, the production carries serious weight. Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss are producing, with Mark L. Smith handling the screenplay adaptation. For players and cinephiles alike, stories exploring isolation and moral ambiguity in broken worlds always strike a chord, especially when executed with this level of cinematic ambition. Between the atmospheric world-building and the sheer star power on screen, this project is shaping up to be a compelling watch for anyone who appreciates deep, character-driven science fiction.
As we count down to the late August premiere, expect to see more promotional beats and creator breakdowns hitting feeds across your favorite streaming and social platforms. You can check out the full trailer and initial coverage directly over at IGN South Africa.
