The Disney Afternoon Collection is heading to Nintendo Switch systems, bringing classic retro platformers like DuckTales and Chip 'n Dale to modern hybrid hardware with quality-of-life upgrades.
Nostalgia is getting a fresh platform push as Capcom brings The Disney Afternoon Collection to both current and upcoming Nintendo hardware. Originally launched to warm reception on other systems, this curated bundle of classic titles is making its way to the Nintendo Switch family, including forthcoming platform iterations. IGN South Africa recently showcased the official launch trailer, highlighting how these pixel-era favorites are finding a comfortable new home on modern hybrid hardware.
For anyone who grew up watching after-school cartoons in the late eighties and nineties, or for younger players curious about platforming history, the collection packs a serious punch. The lineup includes both DuckTales games, the cooperative joy of Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 1 and 2, along with TaleSpin and Darkwing Duck. These aren't just bare-bones ROM dumps either. They feature modern quality-of-life additions like rewind functions and save states, which make tough-as-nails retro difficulty much more approachable for today's players.
Releases like this tap into the ongoing appreciation for digital curation and accessible retro gaming. While live service titles and massive seasonal battle passes dominate daily playtimes, dipping back into bite-sized, single-player platformers offers a great change of pace. Whether you plan to knock out cooperative runs with a friend on the couch or play in handheld mode during a commute, bringing these classic Capcom titles to Switch makes total sense for modern cross-platform libraries. You can check out the official footage over at IGN South Africa to see how the collection shapes up on Nintendo hardware.
