The official featurette for the upcoming Scary Movie reboot highlights the return of the original Wayans family creators and main cast members ahead of its June 5 theatrical release.
The legendary comedy horror franchise is making a massive comeback, and the creative minds behind the original films are finally back in the fold. IGN South Africa recently spotlighted the official featurette for the upcoming Scary Movie installment, which arrives in theaters on June 5. Distributed by Miramax and Paramount Pictures, the new film marks a major reunion for the original creative team as they set their sights on modern Hollywood tropes, cinematic universes, and legacy sequels.
Twenty-six years after the original film parodied the slasher boom of the late nineties, the Core Four are stepping back into the crosshairs of a suspiciously familiar masked killer. Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall are all returning alongside a fresh cast that includes Olivia Rose Keegan and Anthony Anderson. The featurette highlights the family dynamic behind the scenes, showing why the Wayans family involvement remains vital to the franchise's specific brand of irreverent comedy.
For players and movie fans who grew up watching these parodies, the new film is taking aim at a completely different era of blockbusters. Instead of standard slasher flicks, the upcoming release promises to skewer elevated horror, cinematic reboots, requels, and every modern franchise that refuses to stay dead. With Michael Tiddes directing and a script crafted by Rick Alvarez, Phil Beauman, and Jason Friedberg, the parody juggernaut is gearing up to remind audiences how to laugh at the industry's biggest trends.
