The Blood of Dawnwalker Sets Sights on October for Its First Major Update

Rebel Wolves is dropping a massive October update for The Blood of Dawnwalker, introducing a new beginner-friendly difficulty, combat camera fixes, and smoother escape mechanics.

Rebel Wolves is prepping a substantial first patch for The Blood of Dawnwalker, arriving early next month to tackle key community feedback. Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz recently spoke with Eurogamer about the upcoming changes, which include a brand new, ultra-accessible story difficulty designed specifically for players who want to experience the narrative without wrestling with combat challenges. The update will also overhaul combat targeting to stop frustrating lock-on shifts during crowd-control moves, while smoothing out the mechanics for fleeing from dangerous encounters.

Performance optimization remains a primary focus as the studio works through the reality of testing across countless PC hardware configurations. While some players have voiced frustration over frame rates not maxing out high-end displays, Tomaszkiewicz noted that the team is actively pushing out fixes to ensure smoother overall gameplay. Additionally, adjustments to animal aggro will make fast-travel and exploration much less punishing when speeding past wildlife in the open world.

Not all player pain points are seeing a direct fix, however, as enemy health scaling is staying put. The development team attributes spongey enemies to character builds and unspent perks rather than bad balancing, encouraging players to experiment with their skill trees to unlock faster time-to-kill setups. Looking further ahead, the studio is exploring potential New Game Plus additions and enemy variety boosts, building on a strong launch that has already pushed past one million sales.
