Tetris Is Getting a Kids Animated Series Focused on STEAM Problem Solving

Tetris is expanding into children's television with Tetris: World Builders, a new CG-animated series focused on STEAM education, teamwork, and problem-solving, developed by TeamTO and announced at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The Tetris universe is expanding into children's television with an upcoming animated project called Tetris: World Builders. Unveiled during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival by Vikki Blake over at Eurogamer, the CG-animated adventure series targets kids aged six and up. The premise revolves around a team of young scouts who must adapt when massive Tetrimino blocks rain from the sky, using collaboration and engineering concepts to reshape landscapes and solve community problems.

The project is being shaped by a notable creative team, including TeamTO producers Marco Balsamo and Tara Sibel Demren alongside executive producer Chuck Williams, who previously worked on major video game adaptations like the Sonic the Hedgehog films. According to The Tetris Company president and CEO Maya Rogers, the goal is to transform the foundational puzzle mechanics that have engaged players for decades into a narrative about creativity and teamwork.

For a franchise that spans decades of gaming history across every imaginable platform, from the original Game Boy to modern digital storefronts and competitive esports scenes, this move into children's media is a natural progression. While longtime players might be more focused on classic high score runs or recent adaptations, bringing puzzle logic into educational entertainment gives the iconic falling blocks a fresh entry point for the next generation of players and creators.
