Temtem Pivots to Survival Crafting With New Spin-off Pioneers

Crema has announced Temtem: Pioneers, a survival crafting spin-off that trades traditional RPG mechanics for open world building and action combat.

Developer Crema is shifting its creature-collecting universe into the survival genre with the newly announced Temtem: Pioneers. Revealed during the Triple-i Initiative Showcase and reported by Eurogamer, the upcoming spin-off moves away from the traditional RPG mechanics of the 2022 original and into open world survival territory. Players will explore the Downbelow, a wild region filled with untamed creatures, base building, multiplayer features, and fast-paced action combat.

This marks Crema's third attempt at expanding the Temtem franchise following the multiplayer battler Temtem: Showdown and the horde survival title Temtem Swarm. The studio wrapped up active development on the main Temtem game in 2024 to focus on new projects. While the initial reveal draws immediate comparisons to the massive success of Palworld, Pioneers aims to deliver its own take on the formula. Crema plans to fund at least part of the game's development through an upcoming Kickstarter campaign, and a concrete release window has not yet been announced.

For players who enjoy base building and creature collection with friends, Pioneers offers another option in an increasingly crowded genre space. As survival craft games continue to dominate streaming platforms and player time sinks, developer transparency will be key to seeing how this project shapes up during crowdfunding.
