Team Rocket is officially making its mark on Pokémon TCG Pocket. Polygon reports that the upcoming expansion, titled Team Rocket's Ambition, launches on August 26 at 6 p.m. PDT. The themed booster pack brings iconic villains like Giovanni and his Persian to the mobile card game alongside fresh artwork featuring the signature R mark, custom card covers, and dedicated backdrops.
Beyond the new cards, the expansion introduces innovative community events aimed at boosting daily engagement. Players can complete Special Assignments to earn a brand new in-game currency called Shady Tickets, participate in competitive Emblem events, and tackle the Lapras Drop solo battles for B Series promo packs. The update also features an external web campaign called The Great Puzzle Challenge, where solving puzzles yields serial codes for pack hourglasses.
This aggressive rollout comes at a crucial time for the mobile title. Co-developer DeNA recently noted a significant player drop off over the past year and pledged to introduce fresh initiatives to improve retention. By leaning into fan-favorite nostalgia and structural progression loops, Team Rocket's Ambition aims to bring active players back into the daily grind.
