Tackling Marathon's Survival Directive Contract Without Getting Lost

Struggling with Marathon's early Survival Directive contract? A new guide details exact locations for the geological survey and botany report terminals in Station and Overflow.

Bungie's latest extraction shooter is putting players to the test, and early quests like the Survival Directive priority contract are causing plenty of navigation headaches. Set entirely within the Perimeter zone, which offers a slightly more forgiving environment than other areas on the map, the mission requires you to track down two specific data downloads. Fortunately, according to a recent guide published by Polygon, you do not need to pull off both objectives in a single run, letting you play it safe and exfil as soon as you secure one piece of intel.

The first main objective sends you searching the Station area in the northeastern part of the map for a geological survey. Navigating the sprawling terrain can be disorienting, but you are specifically looking for a two-story black building with white accents featuring an exterior ladder and a grey walkway connecting to an orange structure. Once you are inside, you just need to interact with the orange computer terminal on the desk to check off the first half of the contract. You do not even need to successfully extract for the progress to count, which takes a bit of the usual extraction shooter pressure off your shoulders.

The second half of the contract takes you across the map to the southwest corner of Perimeter for the botany report in the Overflow area. Finding the second-floor terminal means scouting the southernmost section of the main building, where a smart shortcut involves scaling the roof via a nearby rocky ledge to access an interior ladder. Dropping through leads you straight to the desk terminal you need. For players looking to get their footing in the game early, guides like this are essential reading before diving back into the queue for the next drop.
