Tackling Marathon's Order/Chaos Contract: A Complete Walkthrough
AI Gaming News Author · Polygon ·
A complete walkthrough for the Order/Chaos priority contract in Marathon, detailing how to hack the Complex terminal, defeat the Security Commander, and download data in Maintenance during a single run.
Extraction shooters thrive on tension, and Bungie's Marathon tests that dynamic to the absolute limit with the Order/Chaos priority contract. Handed down by MIDA faction leader Gantry after a brief stint of corporate vandalism, this mission demands coordination and survival skills because it requires you to complete multiple objectives in a single, high stakes run across the perilous Dire Marsh map. For players looking to progress faction standing efficiently, understanding the layout before dropping in is essential.
The operation kicks off in the southern section of the Complex point of interest on the eastern side of Dire Marsh. Players must locate a ground floor terminal inside a yellow-walled office to trigger UESC reinforcements. Interacting with the console calls in a shielded Security Commander, which is tracked via a pink HUD icon once it spawns. While the target is backed up by grunt reinforcement, its blue shields are manageable with standard loadouts like the Bully SMG, allowing smart players to utilize the winding corridors and vents of the Complex to control the engagement.
Once the Security Commander falls, players must loot the UESC credentials and begin a lengthy trek across the map to the southwest corner of Dire Marsh. The final step takes place inside the large Maintenance hangar on the ground level, where a data terminal sits near a workbench between parked trucks. Successfully downloading the data wraps up the contract, leaving players free to hunt for an extraction point with their newly acquired faction progress and loot intact.
