Super Mario Bros. Wonder is receiving a major Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade on March 26, adding Rosalina, local and online multiplayer hubs, GameShare support, and new cooperative modes.
Nintendo is giving one of its best modern platformers a significant evolution. A recent trailer from Polygon detailed Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, showcasing a March 26 release date, new playable characters, and expansive multiplayer hubs. Unlike standard performance patches, this version introduces Bellabel Park, featuring dedicated plazas for local and online play, minigames, and GameShare support that allows groups to play with only one copy of the software.
Fans of the cosmic side of the franchise will be thrilled to see Rosalina finally join the playable roster alongside her trusty Luma companion. Luma functions as a damage-free support character who can collect items and harass enemies, and players can even control it using the Switch 2 mouse input. The update also adds an expanded Toad Brigade Training Camp for up to four players, battles against the returning Koopalings, and a mysterious new flower-themed power-up that lets Mario hurl floral discs across the screen.
For players who already own the original title on current hardware, Nintendo is offering an upgrade pack rather than forcing a full repurchase, with preorders opening immediately. Whether you are jumping in for the new accessibility-focused Assist Mode, coordinating local sessions with friends through GameShare, or tackling the new cooperative objectives, this release turns a fantastic single-player and casual co-op experience into a much more robust social platform.
